Free Virtual 7″

Picture in picture!  In the run up to the release of MMX on April 6th, we’re throwing out a free single for the song “Little Eyes”.  Now, the only thing new there that you can’t already download on this web page is the full length version of the song.  But it comes all packaged up with official artwork and is worth the zero dollars that you will spend.

You can navigate to that page by clicking on the image to the left or by clicking the STORE link at the top of this page.

As Bartles and Jaymes used to say…Thank you for your support.

Lunch Audio #4

Ah…lack of restraint.  Sometimes it can be a wonderful thing.  Other times, not so much. For this installment of Lunch Hour Audio, I opted to have a few bars of a given instrument, loop it, and then add a bar or two of another instrument, and so on and so forth, adding layers until I ran out of time. In the end, this is a 12 layer cake.  Probably not the best thing ever.

MMX Release Date

The official release date for Mount Mole MMX(digital and physical) is April 6th, 2010.  There is a fair chance that physical copies will be available prior to that date.  I’ll certainly let folks know if/when that happens.

The glamour shots of the MMX packaging follow.  Not shown are the CD itself or the insert that goes in the packaging.  You’ll just have to get one to see those.

Lunch Audio #3

First, housekeeping…  I’m moving these autoposts to 2:30ET on Thursday afternoon, as it seems to make more sense to have a late week deadline.

Somehow it all keeps coming.  This track was a little tougher to work and actually took a couple of separate lunch hours to make.  There were lots of restarts in the process and the product you hear is quite a bit different from the starting point.  Sometimes it’s easy and sometimes it isn’t.

In any case, this track’s all about the ambient stuff floating there in the background.  Perhaps it’s a little too Thom Yorke.

That said, I still rather like the pizzicato ending of this track.  I’ll probably use that bit somewhere if I don’t use the whole track.  Until next week…

Lunch Audio #2

Ah. Installment #2.  It’s kind of amazing how easy it is to make a basic song with the tools that are out there.  Granted, these aren’t masterworks, but in a short hour a workable track can be knocked out.  If MM only attempted the RPM challenge this year.  We could have made it.

Lunch Audio #1

Welcome to the first installment of the Mount Mole lunch hour audio series.  In this series we’re going to try and construct a track of some sort within the confines of the lunch hour.  These tracks will probably be any/all of the following: a little bit rough, abstract, lyric free (unless I’m sure the hallway is empty), hack.  Chances are that the best bits will be stolen and fleshed out into the next Mount Mole release.

The intent is to get going on whatever is next.  There never seems to be enough time at home, so this is the next best line of attack.

And so begins the Lunch Hour Audio series.  This first entry in the series is a bit surly.   For the track, the following tools were used:

Ron Winter’s online Drum Set (this will probably be used again)

Nick’s Online Synthesizer

Garage Band

Delgado

This weeks audio is a cover of the band Albumen‘s Delgado. Though a member of Mount Mole was involved in that project, he was not the originator of the song.  The Mount Mole take on this is decidedly more downtrodden.

For background on the song, it’s worth doing some reading on the mind control experiments of José Delgado.

Off the Handle (mix)

This track is drastically different from the version that appears on the record.  For one thing, it has thump.  It didn’t fit well on MMX in this form, though this version is worth hearing.

Little Eyes (Littlest)

Here’s a greatly shortened (yet complete) version of the 2nd track on the record. It was recorded in the room next to a sleeping baby. You can guess what it’s about. It was shortened for those with lesser attention spans.
