Our Lungs are Getting Light

Behold…a track from an upcoming record. This may get some more work, especially on the vocal side of the house, but for now it is this.

SadSadSad: A New FreE-P

Happy Tuesday Monday!!! Yeah. So I’ve stopped the track of the week nonsense, but that doesn’t mean that I’ve stopped.  Here’s an EP I’ve concocted that consists of tracks backed by various found spoken word stuff. A lot of it is the sort of thing I would have put together as a DJ at WHRW way back when. The Red zeroes and purple ?’s for those of you that are in the know. Well maybe it’s a lot dancier…

The title track is  the outlier in this set as there are actually lyrics.  They’re unintelligible and machine generated, but they are lyrics.

It was a fun exercise and worth a free release.  Maybe I’ll do it again sometime.

Go grab it on my Bandcamp page.

SadSadSad – New EP next week

Here’s a video for a track from a new EP that will be dropped next week via our Bandcamp page. The EP is constructed partially from found sound samples and this track is no exception. In the meantime, here’s a video to watch.

Lunch Audio #27

Well I’ve reached a milestone.  This is officially half of a year as far as weekly posts go (for math wizards, I skipped week 8).  Milestones are always a good place to stop and reflect.  And though I had enough material to take the posts all the way up to March, I’ve decided to stop with this for now.  It’s becoming clutter.  I need to take it all in and finish a bunch of stuff that I started and make a record (or two or three).

So I leave you with this.  It’s essentially 8 bit video game music which has proven to be a great influence on me over the years.  I can point to a couple of Sinkcharmer tracks that I’ve done over the years that live in that same world. Enjoy.

Lunch Audio #26

This track has an Oud sample that I’ve been trying to use for a while, but could never quite get to fit.  The solution in this case was to just live with it on it’s own and then go into a severely truncated Steve Reich inspired acoustic guitar section.   Really none of this track makes any sense, but I do like it.

Eh…so they can’t all be winners.  This is snake charmer music for this guy. Hmm. For some reason I want some Jiffy pop.

Water Water Water

Remixes!  Well, it was only a matter of time before I started to take a shot at remixing some friends and neighbors.

In this go around, I made a go of remixing “A Description of Things Rick Moody Could See From His Desk” from Matthew Carefully‘s Community Balloon.  The original track is entirely acapella and (truth be told), my least favorite track from Community Balloon.  And even though it has that distinction, I still do like it.  I just don’t love acapella tracks in general. Thus, I took it as a challenge to make it into something I’d listen to repeatedly rather than skip past.

The results lie here: http://communityballoon.com/bonus/rick-moody-remix/

Hope you like!

Lunch Audio #24

It’s fun to work at ridiculous tempos.  While I’ve been doing these tracks, I’ve discovered that it’s hella fun to see what happens to a song if I speed it up or slow it down at the very end.  This one is sped up….way up. 231 beats per minute.  Dance to that sucka.

Lunch Audio #23

When I started this process, I had no idea that it would result in so much recorded material.  As I write this (on 4/20/2010), I’ve only been at this for a month and a half. Looks like I should have attempted the RPM challenge.

Oh and I apologize for the picture.  Randomness is increasing exponentially.
